Middle order batter Thomas Kelly has been included in his first Adelaide Strikers squad of KFC BBL|13, for the Strikers’ annual New Year’s Eve match against the Melbourne Stars.
Kelly is one of 13 players named in the squad for Adelaide’s biggest New Year’s Eve party.
Squad of 13 v Stars: Matthew Short (c), Wes Agar, James Bazley, Cameron Boyce, Brendan Doggett, Adam Hose, Thomas Kelly, Chris Lynn, Ben Manenti, Harry Nielsen (wk), Jamie Overton, D’Arcy Short, Henry Thornton
Jake Weatherald and David Payne have been left out of the squad that lost to the Melbourne Renegades at Marvel Stadium on Friday night.
One of the shining lights in the loss was English import Jamie Overton, who impressed with both bat (29* off 15) and ball (1-29 off four overs).
He is really looking forward to his first New Year’s Eve match and righting the wrongs from Friday.
“We’ve got to learn from last night’s match and hopefully put it right tomorrow night,” Overton said.
“The Stars are a good side with a couple of new overseas imports, so it’s not going to be an easy game.
"We’ve got to be on the money and we’ll certainly be trying to do that to put on a show for the Adelaide fans.
“It’s going to be a great evening, I’m really looking forward to it.”
