The Adelaide Strikers have strengthened their squad with the addition of accomplished Queensland all-rounder James Bazley, who joins the team on a multi-year deal.
A fast bowler and power hitter, Bazley has been a terrific performer for the Brisbane Heat since the 2020/21 season, playing 34 matches and taking 31 wickets with a best of 4-22, while also making 336 runs.
A State cricket regular, Bazley has represented Australia at the Under-19 World Cup, played for Cricket Australia XI sides and is currently representing Kent in the English 50-over county competition.
Bazley said the move to the Strikers is one that fills him with excitement.
“I am super pumped to get down to Adelaide and become a Striker. Every player in Australia loves playing on Adelaide Oval and I’m looking forward to playing in the marquee New Year’s Eve match for the first time,” Bazley said.
“I’m eager to get into a new environment with a squad of talented players and I’m just focussed on contributing to the Strikers program as we chase on-field success.”
Adelaide Strikers Head Coach Jason Gillespie said it was great to add Bazley to the squad.
“James is an exciting talent with huge potential and we’ve seen what he can do with both bat and ball in crucial stages of the game in his time with the Heat,” Gillespie said.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming James to Adelaide and we’re confident he’ll do wonderful things with the Strikers.”
Bazley is the second new Striker to join the squad ahead of BBL|13, with D’Arcy Short also announced as a new signing last week.
