The Adelaide Strikers will launch their KFC BBL|13 campaign with a blockbuster clash at Adelaide Oval against Brisbane Heat on 9 December, with the full season fixture today released by Cricket Australia.
Adelaide Oval will again play host to the biggest night in global domestic cricket when the Strikers and Melbourne Stars light up New Year’s Eve in a rematch of last year’s calendar-turning encounter.
Sydney Thunder will also journey to Adelaide this season in a bid to avenge their record-breaking loss during BBL|12. History will be on the mind of the Hobart Hurricanes this summer too as they return to Adelaide Oval, the scene of the incredible run-chase lead by Strikers star and Player of the Tournament Matt Short, who brought up a maiden ton alongside the winning runs.
Reigning Champions Perth Scorchers and the Strikers will face off twice in three days in early January in their traditional battle for the Jason Gillespie Trophy.
Strikers Head Coach Jason Gillespie is already looking forward to getting back in the blue.
“We can’t wait to get back out on Adelaide Oval on 9 December to play the Heat in front of our amazing Strikers fans,” Gillespie said.
“We are building a strong team and are extremely excited for the season ahead.”
A new-look Finals series will make its debut this summer, featuring a four-game structure culminating in the Final on Wednesday 24 January.
Recently signing MVP Matt Short to a long-term deal, the Strikers continue to strengthen their list ahead of the BBL Player Draft, with more announcements planned for the coming weeks.
