The 20-year-old brought a swift end to Ireland’s chase with a rare ‘double hat-trick’ to help Afghanistan secure a 3-0 series victory over the Irish in the final T20I in India.
The world’s No.1 ranked T20I bowler, Rashid took the final five wickets of the match in Dehradun to finish with figures of 5/27.
He claimed the scalp of Kevin O’Brien with the last ball of the 15th over then struck with three successive wickets to begin the 17th over.
Rashid is also the first bowler to claim a hat-trick for Afghanistan in T20I cricket.
He finished with 11 wickets from the three-match series against Ireland.
Afghanistan won the final clash by 32 runs with Renegades-listed allrounder Mohammad Nabi named Player of the Match for his 81 off 36 deliveries.
