West Indies international Fabian Allen has been ruled out for the remainder of KFC BBL|14, following scans on his injured hamstring.
The highly talented all-rounder suffered a high-grade hamstring strain while fielding in Tuesday night's narrow loss to the Sydney Thunder at Manuka Oval.
General Manager of Cricket, Simon Insley, says it's so disappointing for a player who has already had such a big impact on the group.
"This was Fabian's first time in Australia, and everyone was so excited to see what he could do with the bat, the ball and in the field," Insley said.
"We are all gutted that the results of the scans have come back ruling him out for the rest of the tournament.
"We wish him well in his recovery and hope to see him and his wife back in Adelaide in the near future."
Allen says he's disappointed about the outcome but understands these things happen in cricket.
"While I'm sad that I will miss the rest of the Big Bash, I guess it's all part of sports," Allen said.
"I will be back stronger than before, and just want to wish the Strikers the best of luck for the rest of the tournament."
The Strikers take on the Melbourne Stars on Friday 20 December at Adelaide Oval.
